Ford City Relay for Life – "F&M Banking on a Cure"
Farmers & Merchants Bank is proud to be a sponsor of the Ford City Relay for Life. Our team, "F&M Banking on a Cure", is made up of Farmers & Merchants Bank employees and their family members. Team members work very hard all year preparing for the event which raises money for breast cancer research through the American Cancer Society. Many great fundraisers are planned throughout the year to raise money for this huge event. Some of these fundraisers are held at F&M Bank’s eight locations such as candy bar sales, spring flower sale, and employee luncheons. Others are held locally like picnics, bake sales, and photo portraits. Last year our team’s hard work paid off. "F&M Banking on a Cure" proudly raised $8,500.00 for the cause.
"Paws and Claws" Walk to benefit Orphans of the Storm
Farmers & Merchants Bank supports the annual "Paws and Claws" Walk to benefit Orphans of the Storm, our area’s no-kill animal shelter. The walk raises money that will go towards building a new facility since their current shelter has been flooded numerous times. F&M Bank donated money to each employee who participated in the benefit walk. Employees brought their own dogs to walk or enjoyed walking among friends.
"Annual Light up Night" Downtown Kittanning
Every year Farmers & Merchants Bank enjoys participating in the tradition of Downtown Kittanning’s annual Light-up Night celebration. This year Farmers & Merchants Bank had the pleasure of hosting Santa Claus in our newly remodeled Main office. Many of our bank employees got into the spirit of the season and dressed up as Santa’s elves and Mrs. Claus to create the ultimate Christmas experience for the children visiting. Bank employees also handed out cookies and giveaways outside along Market Street to the people passing by.
Armstrong County Chamber of Commerce Annual Golf Outing
Farmers and Merchants Bank was the corporate sponsor for the Armstrong County Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing for the past two years. These outings included a great day of golf, prize drawings, and dinner. The money raised from these outings will benefit the Armstrong County Chamber of Commerce.

Grand Re-Opening Celebration! June 8-13, 2009
Once the renovations to the entire building at 222 Market Street Downtown Kittanning were completed, we wanted to show our appreciation to our customers and to the public for their patience during this year long project.
A week long Grand Re-Opening Event was held in June 2009 to celebrate the newly remodeled Main office and the addition of a new drive-thru banking facility in Downtown Kittanning.
To kick off the event, F&M Board of Directors and local supporters of the renovation project gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new drive-thru. F&M Bank President & CEO, Richard Krauland, presented the ASD foundation with a donation from F&M Bank, which will fund the Armstrong School District’s Traveling Planetarium Project. People in the crowd listened to additional words from County Commissioner Patricia Kirkpatrick, Kittanning Borough Council President Gerald Shuster, and F&M Bank board member Mark Snyder.
All of the public was welcome each day for different prize drawings, giveaways, and free lunch prepared and served by F&M Bank employees. Kris’s ham BBQ was a huge hit!
Fun and games like the Froggy FM’s fun wheel and our "Crack the home safe-game", kept guests entertained and laughing.
Our theme for the week was Investing in our Community and to show our commitment to giving back to the community we serve, we invited a different non-profit organization each day to set up at the bank. People came by to support their favorite, local, charitable organization and many goods and donations were raised for each group. We were very pleased to help show support to the following organizations that joined us during the week:
- ASD Foundation
- Armstrong County Habitat for Humanity
- Salvation Army
- Havin
- Armstrong County Community Action Agency
- Orphans of the Storm
Farmers & Merchants Bank business customers had the opportunity to participate in our "Local Treasures" Grand Prize Drawing, which featured gifts from local businesses and was open to the public.
Farmers & Merchants Bank strongly believes in supporting local businesses! They are the mainstay of our community's economy, the backbone of our democracy, and the future success of our community. Support Locally!
We would like to thank these local businesses or organizations that generously donated items for the prize drawing.
