Ford City Relay for Life – "F&M Banking on a Cure"
Ford City's Relay for Life takes a step to help eliminate cancer as a major health problem. Through the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life raises funds to help lives touched by cancer by researching for a cure. This annual two-day event celebrates the survivors affected by cancer as well as honors and remembers the lives lost in fighting its battle.
"F&M Banking on a Cure" is a team made up of Farmers & Merchants Bank employees and their families. Team members work hard all year in preparing for the event by raising funds for cancer research. Fundraisers such as candy bar sales, spring flower sale, and employee luncheons are held at F&M Bank’s eight locations. Other fundraisers such as picnics bake sales, and photo portraits are held locally in the community. Farmers & Merchants Bank is proud to be a corporate sponsor of the Ford City Relay for Life.
Community Action Thanksgiving Food Drive
The Armstrong County Community Action Agency is a local non-profit organization serving the low-income and disadvantaged. This agency is dedicated to serving through a local monthly food bank, which includes the Thanksgiving Food Drive that was held on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 from 6:00am to 11:00am and the Easter Food Drive held on April 26, 2011. F&M Bank employees donated their time by packing boxes with food for local distribution during the Thanksgiving and Easter seasons. Because more volunteers joined in helping this cause than past events for Community Action, the drive was completed in record time!
Investing in the Future
Lenape Tech is dedicated to developing the foundation for students to succeed in the evolving technological world by providing an active learning environment. In helping to enhance education, F&M Bank’s contribution to Lenape Tech, helped to purchase hands on learning equipment for two programs. Our contributions along with the outstanding training provided by the exceptional staff at Lenape Tech will allow students to develop marketable skills that they will come to use professionally.

Grand Re-Opening Celebration! June 8-13, 2009
Once the renovations to the entire building at 222 Market Street Downtown Kittanning were completed, we wanted to show our appreciation to our customers and to the public for their patience during this year long project.
A week long Grand Re-Opening Event was held in June 2009 to celebrate the newly remodeled Main office and the addition of a new drive-thru banking facility in Downtown Kittanning.
To kick off the event, F&M Board of Directors and local supporters of the renovation project gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new drive-thru. F&M Bank President & CEO, Richard Krauland, presented the ASD foundation with a donation from F&M Bank, which will fund the Armstrong School District’s Traveling Planetarium Project. People in the crowd listened to additional words from County Commissioner Patricia Kirkpatrick, Kittanning Borough Council President Gerald Shuster, and F&M Bank board member Mark Snyder.
All of the public was welcome each day for different prize drawings, giveaways, and free lunch prepared and served by F&M Bank employees. Kris’s ham BBQ was a huge hit!
Fun and games like the Froggy FM’s fun wheel and our "Crack the home safe-game", kept guests entertained and laughing.
Our theme for the week was Investing in our Community and to show our commitment to giving back to the community we serve, we invited a different non-profit organization each day to set up at the bank. People came by to support their favorite, local, charitable organization and many goods and donations were raised for each group. We were very pleased to help show support to the following organizations that joined us during the week:
- ASD Foundation
- Armstrong County Habitat for Humanity
- Salvation Army
- Havin
- Armstrong County Community Action Agency
- Orphans of the Storm
Farmers & Merchants Bank business customers had the opportunity to participate in our "Local Treasures" Grand Prize Drawing, which featured gifts from local businesses and was open to the public.
Farmers & Merchants Bank strongly believes in supporting local businesses! They are the mainstay of our community's economy, the backbone of our democracy, and the future success of our community. Support Locally!
We would like to thank these local businesses or organizations that generously donated items for the prize drawing.
